AI Image Editing
Nano Banana 2.1 Image Editor
Upload a photo, say what to change and what to keep, and Nano Banana 2.1 returns an edited version you can download right in your browser.
What you can change in a photo
Each edit starts from your upload and one plain-language instruction.
Replace the background
Move the subject to a studio backdrop, a city street, or a plain color by describing the new setting in one sentence.
Change colors and materials
Turn a red dress blue or a wooden table into marble without reshooting. Name the item so only that item changes.
Translate or rewrite text in the image
Replace the words on a poster, label, or sign with another language or new wording while the layout stays put.
Combine several photos into one
Upload a person, an outfit, and a location as separate images, then describe how they should come together in one picture.
How to edit a photo with Nano Banana 2.1
Three habits that keep edits predictable.
Upload the photo you want to edit
Use the image button under the prompt box. Add a second image only when the edit needs it, such as a logo or another person.
Describe only the change, and name what stays
Write one instruction — “Change the sofa to green velvet” — then add what must not move: “keep the room, lighting, and camera angle the same.”
Make one change at a time
When a result is close, download it and upload it as the new reference for the next edit. Small steps are easier to steer than one long instruction.
Who uses a text-based photo editor
Product photos for online stores
Turn a plain packshot into seasonal or lifestyle scenes for listings and ads without booking another shoot.
Interior and real estate previews
Show a room with different wall colors, furniture, or flooring so clients can compare options before any work starts.
Design mockups
Put a logo or print onto a T-shirt, mug, or package photo to preview a design before it goes to production.
Fresh social posts from old photos
Give photos you already have a new season, setting, or mood instead of planning a new shoot.
Before you upload
What the editor on this page accepts and returns.
Up to 5 images per edit
Upload one photo to edit it, or up to 5 when you are combining people, products, and places.
PNG, JPEG, or WebP, up to 5 MB each
Other formats and larger files are rejected at upload, so export or compress the image first.
1K output here, 2K and 4K in Advanced settings
The editor on this page returns a 1K image in 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, or 3:4. Open Advanced settings for 2K or 4K output.
Point to the area in words
There is no brush or mask tool. Name the region — “the mug on the left”, “the sky above the roofline” — so the edit lands in the right place.
Image editing FAQ
Will the rest of my photo stay exactly the same?
Not pixel for pixel. The model redraws the whole image, so small details can shift. Name the parts that must stay, such as the face, a logo, or the background, and keep each run to one change.
Should I upload one image or several?
One image when you are changing something inside it. Several when the result should combine them, such as a person from one photo and a jacket from another. Say in the prompt which image supplies what.
Can I remove an object or a person from a photo?
Yes. Say what to remove and what should fill the space, for example “remove the trash can and continue the brick wall behind it.” Naming the fill gives the model a clear target.
Does editing work on blurry or low-resolution photos?
It works, but the model has to invent detail it cannot see, so faces and small text may change. Start from the sharpest copy you have.
Can I edit photos of other people?
Only upload photos you own or have permission to use. Requests for explicit content are blocked.
